Yaya Toure has joined Olympiacos as a free agent following the expiry of his contract in the summer with Manchester City. The former City and Barcelona midfielder has rejoined the Greek side, 12 years after making his mark in Europe with the Super League club. There had been a lot of rumours linking the Ivorian with big money moves to the MLS and the Chinese Super League but he has chosen to go back the where it all began. During his time with the Citizens, he made 230 appearances where he scored 59 goals in the process. His first stint with Olympiacos saw him score three in 20 appearances and that stat is likely to change in the coming days.
Sadio Mane has been in the headlines in Liverpool’s 100% winning start to the season for his goal scoring exploits. With only four games played you would think he has replaced Mohamed Salah as the Reds goal scoring machine. He has four goals to his name and he has found the back of the net in all but one of the fixtures he has featured in this season. The Senegalese winger scored the opener against Leicester this week and there is no doubt as to what kind of player he is.
Leicester City’s new signing Rachid Ghazzal showed a lot of positives in their 2-1 loss to Liverpool at the King Power Stadium. The Algerian international completed his move from Monaco in the summer and so far he has demonstrated why the Foxes went for his services. Ghezzal was very instrumental for Leicester during the weekend with his timely crosses from the wing. He was effective in his overlaps too despite the fact that they did not get anything from the game. It is worth noting that he has scored two goals for Leicester, one in the Premier League and another one in the League Cup.
Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sassuolo rained down goals on Genoa this weekend in Serie A. Boateng opened the scoring for the Neroverdi after they conceded a Krzysztof Piatek goal at 27 minutes. The Ghanaian international's goal proved to be the impetus his team needed, and a shower of goals fell a few minutes later. Sassuolo would have won the match 5-1 but Goran Pandev and Krzysztof Piatek reduced the gap. Boateng is no longer a young man, but he manages to prove that age is nothing but a number week after week, with his fine performances. Before their match against Genoa, Boateng had scored the equaliser for Sassuolo against Cagliari on Matchday two.
William Troost Ekong
William Troost Ekong played the whole 90 minutes in Udinese’s 1-0 loss away to Fiorentina. The 25-year-old has been on an upward trend in the recent times and he has managed one goal for his side so far in the new season. He has a WhoScored rating of 6.59 and that is bound to get better as he is set to feature more regularly in the coming days.
